ABOUT:
The paintings I make are my response to my everyday experiences. These captured moments then take the form of dreamy, vibrant landscapes. I become fascinated with movement, the shift of an object or the distortion of a reflective surface. I focus on empty space, how this can be used to create form. I become obsessed with a grainy iPhone photo that I can rework in multiple ways to tell a story. A pencil sketch or a line from a poem becomes a whole new world upon the canvas. I paint with mostly oil on canvas, enjoying the fluidity of the marks you can gain from the paintbrush. The paint becomes a system to process and manipulate my ideas, working in multiple layers and adding or changing elements as the painting unfolds.
